BRONTE DIVERS and other beach  pictures click on this link... BRONTE

The Australian film rolls, in reverse date order. Most on Fuji stock, and most if not indicated otherwise, are with 50mm lens. Black and white shots are taken on chromagenic film either Ilford  XP2 or the cheaper, but slightly inferior Kodak T400CN.

This section is raw output. In other words out the camera and into the archive. It includes outtakes bloopers and other crap that is normally associated with getting the shots worth showing in latest and the other online galleries. So please view these images in this context. They do not constitute my portfolio.

Some of the rolls from last year, as well as those intended for mature audience are stored on www.imagestation.com. Netscape users may experience some difficulties or even browser crashes with the Imagestation site. Try upgrading to latest Netscape for your platform.

100301 End of Bronte and therefore the conclusion of trip to Sydney. Marion and her husband Andrew taken in Glebe
090301 Bronte (and a mid-roll change, so first part taken on or around xx Mar and includes Clovelly Bay frame 12> the big wave day at Bronte
080301 Bronte, on the roughest day I had yet encountered. Waves were coming with such a force that at one time two kids had to be rescued after being swept out the pool.
070301 SGLMG parade (end of) - phew. Then beginning of the big wave day. Bronte Mar 4th 01, with Marta. Camera in plastic bag. Fuji400
060301 SGLMG parade - no yield.- Just added for completeness- Fuji400
050301 SGLMG parade - no yield.- Just added for completeness Fuji400
040301 SGLMG parade - no yield.- Just added for completeness Fuji400
030301 The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, taken with Fuji 400- some of these films may not be in the order they were taken.
020301 Around Mar 1st, Ferry shots, then Bronte  FUJI100
010301 Left over from Sunday Feb 25th  with Mike at Maroubra, then formal Awdah shots.
280201 Coogee Beach and Pool on Feb 25th, with Mike breaking in his new Eos camera. Frame 21>  Maroubra Pool. Some shots may have been taken with his 20-80 lens
270201 Remnants from the Northern Beaches, taken at Whale beach  including my shadow portrait. Then shots of Awdah and Alla right after the pool shots taken with my "dry" EOS camera- 17> Coogee Oval, Coogee Beach
260201 Fuji Marine Roll 3 Allan is joined by Awdah for a portrait underwater. These rolls were taken 27 exposure Fuji Marine camera. An interesting assignment.
250201 Fuji Marine Roll 2 of the Alla(n) Pool shots. Plenty of light scatter in this salt swimming pool. Shots of him taken from below water
240201 Fuji Marine Roll 1 (27 exposure) 800 ISO The pool shots Alla(n) doing M Ali style pics for Sports Illustrated 1960 .
220201 Most of these shots were taken at Bilgola, the woman was Harolds sister and the girl, one of her kids.  We got chatting he was visiting from Johannesburg, he did a RD portrait for me, and so did Geoff-
190201 Bronte beach shots or two with Ky (kye?) doing the Rineka Dijkstra (RD) pose like roll 290101 -Then 22nd Feb Geoff Davis North Sydney interestingly it was a white wall- Northern beaches, starting with (Bilgola head- the little french boy  that was hypnotized by the birdman hang glider flying overhead- Am sure there was a kind of energy flowing between them, and me- The rest of his family were all waiting to go on.
180201 Bronte Pool was feeling a little bored with my creativity so slowed the shutter down and went for abstract shapes and colours.
130201 Bronte Pool. Same day - today I get asked three times what I am doing. I am just doing the pool I say and all that jazz. I am now beginning to look for new angles. Perhaps I will take the plunge soon.
120201 Bronte Pool , these were taken on A Monday. I normally do Bronte on a Sunday. A different crowd. I guess less people from other suburbs.
110201 Opening ceremony of Mardi Gras, Some of the shots are for a panorama, a good way to burn film, (9th Feb) QE2 leaving, Mike at Picton Microbrewery, Photos at Bronte Pool on 12th Feb
(090201) PG  James in Wooloomooloo, Sharon and I both photographing him. Not sure if her films will be online though.
(080201) PG Mike with the other QE2, which was in town for two nights on its world tour. The  Beginning of the James Shoot, with Sharon (who can be seen in some of the shots)
050201 Fuji once again, this film a little better than the one before, still you can see that I had a lot of trouble with the sea spray as well as failing lens mechanics.
040201 Kodak Gold 100, and a failing Tokina at-x 35-70 zoom. Actually it was involved in a little accident here around 6 yrs ago, and it should have been written off then. Oh well have learnt the lesson. Back to standard lens from now on. This roll was rescanned too, and is slightly scratched. A cursed roll.
290101 Bronte Divers, yes More Bronte.. elusive Bronte, Blue Mountains, well an angle on it, the bush. Sarah Wadd paying homage to  Rineka Dijkstra from "World Without End" exhibition at the Art Gallery NSW - couple at Commodore Heights Lookout in Ku-Ring-Gai National Park, Dominic
250101 B Bronte Divers, a few "off the hip" shots, so one or two inevitable misses
240101 A Sarah Paddington pink wall which appears blue for some odd reason, colour balanced here and there.
230101 More from the Manly Marrickville divers, Ferry shots on way back from Manly, Sydney Bridge walk pics, and pics from Rosebay ferry.
220101 Left overs from Watsons bay, Manly Beach and "little"  Czech divers from Marrickville. Sarah and Bondi Beach Pool
210101 Sarah impromptu portraits, and 70 foot cliff divers at Watsons bay.
140101 Bronte divers

12 2000 (last year) 22

123400 Marta starts the last film of 2000, 2 thru 15 are part of a panorama sequence. ie non composition, these will be stitched together. A couple of shots of Adrian, although he was not in the mood for it. Also a neighbouring Canon photographer who didn't speak a word of English.  Film finished with handheld firework shots. (9pm version)
123300 Awdah taken at Coogee beach -NYE morning, with Mike playing guitar in background - XP2 film, windy day causes some hassles, the shoot improves when we attract a crowd for the last few shots.
123200 Marta at Lavender bay, note how her  image develops from the first few frames to the great "veiled" end shots.   Film ends with  Awdah at Coogee. The mood of these shots is quite different from the XP2 film above.
123100 The Marty Roll taken against another local wall. Marty, is a trained subject and so was easy to capture. Sharon joins in towards the end of the roll
123000 The Sharon Roll. I anticipated a difficult shoot. Photographers just hate their photos taken..and  the expectations are significantly higher. I feel I have managed to capture her essence. An early appearance of Marty, Sharons partner,  as the roll comes to an end.
122900 Running off a film that originally tried to capture a moon over Sydney. Includes Bronte, but no jumpers today (where are they all?) Last few frames are of Sharon
121100 The second roll, sometimes you leave the motor drive on and the roll is over in less than a minute- Its heaps cheaper to leave it off, but catching "the moment" is even more difficult on manual and  less wasteful. Scan not quite up to the usual standards
121000 Bronte beach jumpers and divers, with a little rapid fire shooting. This roll and 121100 required a fair bit of tweaking to work on the screen. Now where from here? Scan not quite up to the usual standards
120300 The Bondi to Coogee Beach walk. A hot midday sun and just a 50mm lens shoot.
120400 Part deux of same day. (An exhausted) Marta at roll end- Couple of  Awdah to finish off the film
(301100)  PG WARNING   For Mature audiences. Male nudity ahead.  Please turn back if that offends you- Ross in b&w for Sharons show, "my favourite thing" at the shoebox gallery- I had heaps more trouble with this shoot than Ross, who was the  perfect model, all composed and ultra laid back. The images are stored on IMAGESTATION.COM and will open in a separate window
271100 Awdah & Mike outside the Rose Hotel, quickie, 20 minute job.
